Vital Information

In this digital age parents appreciate having information about their child’s progress in school at their fingertips, 24/7. The school provides an online portal to this information called RenWeb. It is used by teachers to post homework and grades and by the school to maintain our student database and communicate via email and ParentAlert, a notification system that calls/texts parents automatically. Parents can access this through the link at the top of our webpage entitled ParentsWeb or here.

The school has a weekly electronic newsletter that is sent via email every Monday. It is referred to as the Blue Notes. The Blue Notes contains any important announcements for the week, news items of interest, athletics information, and Home and School Association minutes and announcements. This is an important source of information that parents should make sure to read each week.

Individual teachers will communicate with their parents and students what their personal plan for communication will be. Some teachers of younger students send weekly notes home; others send information as needed. Students in grades PK-5th grade have a weekly folder that is sent home on Wednesdays or Fridays, typically. These folders have one pocket for items to Return to School and one for items to Take Home.

Transportation

Since the school is conveniently located just over 10 miles down Pellissippi Parkway from I-40, most of our families live an easy driving distance from St. Mary’s School. However, many families are willing to travel from a 35-mile radius to attend the school. To support this, the school tries to help families who live near one another arrange car pools if needed. There is also a bus from West Knoxville that has been coordinated by parents who live in that area. There are currently two morning pickup stops:bus

  • First stop – CVS at Smith Road/Kingston Pike in Farragut.
  • Second stop – Fort Sanders Fitness parking area at Kingston Pike/Pellissippi Parkway.
  • Additional stops can be added as the need arises.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Ice Cream (13)kThere are many opportunities for parents to volunteer at the school or for one of several school functions throughout the year. The school uses a website, iVolunteer, to post opportunities to help. Parents can sign up online for any openings. The website sends reminders to ensure parents recall times/dates of signups.

The school also uses iVolunteer for signups for Parent-Teacher conferences in the fall.

Parents can access iVolunteer here. The site collects very basic personal information to be able to record your commitments and send reminders. It never shares or sells the information to outside sources.

Extended Child Care

43St. Mary’s Extended Child Care Program (ECC) gives quality care that meets the developmental needs of children. The atmosphere is stable, secure, and well organized. The environment provides an atmosphere of safety and security in which children may grow.  Trained staff seek to provide quality care, supervision, and activities to meet the needs of the various age groups of children.  Space is available for quiet study; supervised play indoors and/or outdoors; movies and/or videos (on occasion), or simply wholesome conversation. Children are provided some freedom of motion and a sense of privacy.

We believe that children can have fun and enjoy themselves in an atmosphere of trusting love and consideration for others. To that end, the staff encourages each child to be compassionate, tolerant, mutually respectful, loving and forgiving.  Each child is expected to respect the rights, property and good name of others. Each child is taught to be courteous and well-mannered.  Good behavior and cooperation are a must.

The Extended Care Program is OPEN on:

  • All school days and days when there is early dismissal.
  • THE ECC PROGRAM WILL BE CLOSED IF THE SCHOOL IS CLOSED.

AFTER SCHOOL: 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.

  • AFTER SCHOOL (Wednesdays): 2:10 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
  • SNOW DAYS: If the school is closed, ECC will be closed.
