Anna Kasemir, an 8th grader at St. Mary’s School, Oak Ridge has been selected to sing in the 2017 American Choral Directors Association National Middle School/Junior High Mixed Honor Choir on March 8th-11th in Minneapolis, MN. The ACDA is the premiere national choral organization, so singers come from all over the country to participate. She will have the opportunity to rehearse with master conductors and perform choral music at the very highest levels with other fine musicians. The MS/JH honor choir will be directed by Lynnel Joy Jenkins. Ms. Jenkins is the Artistic Director of the Princeton Girlchoir and choral teacher at the Timberlane Middle School of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District in Pennington, New Jersey. Ms. Jenkins’ varied conducting and teaching experience ranges from the elementary to collegiate level. She has served as Assistant Professor of Music Education at the Westminster Choir College of Rider University and Conductor of the Resident Training Choir at the American Boychoir School in Princeton, New Jersey. Mrs. Carol Villaverde, music teacher at SMS, shared her thoughts, “I have been blessed to sing with Anna in music classes since she was in 2nd grade. After her experience last year in the ACDA Southern Division Treble Honor Choir, Anna took the initiative to audition for the National Honor Choir this year. Over 4,200 singers auditioned to sing in the honor choirs this year, and Anna was selected to participate. I am proud of her accomplishment, but what I am most grateful for is that I get to work with my favorite musicians, the children at St. Mary’s School, every day.” Congratulations to Anna! We know she will be a wonderful musical ambassador of St. Mary’s School, the Diocese of Knoxville, and the state of Tennessee.
We are so thankful for St. Mary’s School. The teachers and staff are caring, compassionate and there for our children. We chose St. Mary’s for the outstanding academics and we received so much more. The School develops the whole person. Our children have gained morals and values that will be with them forever and carry them throughout life. They look forward to school every day and miss school during the holidays. I am very grateful to St. Mary’s for the gift they have given our family.
My daughter attends St. Mary’s Catholic School – Oak Ridge, TN. We’ve been thoroughly pleased with the warm and loving environment and the amazing presence of the Dominican Sisters. We find the education to be top notch – even when weighed against other private schools in the area.
St. Mary’s is one of the best decisions my wife and I have made. The education and faith-filled, family environment is second to none. I look forward to the following four years to watch my kids grow at this wonderful school. I pray that all families be as blessed as we have been thus far to have the opportunity to be a St. Mary’s family.
What a precious, wonderful school! They truly are a family. The students are greeted every morning by name as they enter the door! We love the school’s laid back atmosphere with the focus on academic learning and being a Christian family. We have enjoyed our St. Mary’s experience!
We have two boys who attend here…one
in 2nd grade and one in the pre-k program. I could not be happier with the education they are receiving. I ❤️❤️❤️St.M ary’s and all of the teachers who make this school so AWESOME! I feel like a must give a special shout-out to the pre-k program… our oldest did not attend pre-k because we did not live in Oak Ridge at the time…I wish that he would have been able to attend. Our 4 year old is writing out names, numbers, learning Spanish, and drawing like there’s n…
St. Mary’s is the best school in Oak Ridge. The teachers are wonderful. My children love their teachers and classmates. I am so very grateful for St. Mary’s School.
St. Mary’s Oak Ridge is a warm and welcoming place that is well situated for the highest level of education. The classes are small enough to allow one on one interaction between the children and the teachers. The school’s approach to education enables all levels of learning to be incorporated in the classes. The interaction between our school and the public school system to facilitate their resources to benefit the education of our children is outstanding.
