An Introduction: 

The New Faculty and Staff of St. Mary’s


For the 2021-2022 school year St. Mary’s School (SMS) welcomed several new faculty and staff members. SMS is so glad that they have joined our family, and wishes them a blessed school year. 

Sister Mary John, O.P.—Principal:  

Sister Mary John is a native of Minster, Ohio and has been a professed religious sister for 30 years. During this time, she has worked with students as teacher and principal in elementary schools in the Dioceses of Nashville (TN), Charleston (SC), New Orleans (LA) and Richmond (VA). She has graduate degrees in School Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, Speech and Hearing Pathology and Theology (Early Church History). She has also worked in the Vocation Office of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. 

Jennifer Amori—6th Grade Homeroom & Middle School ELA Teacher: 

Mrs. Amori moved to Tennessee this past summer from California with her husband and two daughters. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from California Baptist University and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon UniversityBefore her move to Tennessee, Mrs. Amori taught for seven years at Our Lady of the Assumption. 

Sister Emma—2nd Grade Teacher 

Sister Emma grew up north of Nashville. She has two brothers and two sisters; together they enjoyed swimming, camping, fishing, and caring for a variety of animals. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies for Aquinas College in 2010, and is currently working on a Master’s degree in Thomistic Studies from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. Sr. Emma enjoys reading, walking, flower pressing, and card making.

Meghan Harmon—Kindergarten Teacher 

Mrs. Harmon earned her Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech University in 2012. She has taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chattanooga and St. Joseph’s School in Knoxville. She has been a member of St. Mary Parish for most of her life. She and her husband have a dog and three cats.  

Candace Meador—Prekindergarten Teacher 

Mrs. Meador moved to Tennessee with her husband and three, teenage daughters right before the school year started from California.  She is a certified Preschool Teacher and Director.  She attended Cal State in San Bernardino and Vanguard University.  She has been teaching for 11 years and spent 7 of those years at Our Lady of the Assumption Preschool.  She attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school, and is passionate about her Catholic faith.  

 Madalyn Bryant—Office Manager  

Mrs. Bryant is a graduate of Saint Cecilia Academy in Nashville; the school is owned and operated by the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia. Afte high school, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Alabama and a Master’s degree in American History from the College of William and Mary. She has also completed coursework for a Master’s degree in Secondary Education. Mrs. Bryant and her husband are expecting their first child in February.
