2025 Fun Run – Success!

September 15, 2025/in Community/by Hannah McFadden

We are absolutely thrilled to share the results of this year’s Fun Run—thanks to your incredible support, we didn’t just meet our goal… we blew past it! Our original target of $15,000 was no match for the energy, generosity, and determination of our students, families, and staff. Together, we raised over $20,000 to support St. Mary’s School!

This achievement is a testament to the power of community. From cheering on the runners to sharing our campaign far and wide, every step you took made a difference. Parents, teachers, and students—you showed up, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

And the best part? We’ve got a BIG surprise in store for the kids to celebrate their hard work. Stay tuned in the coming weeks… we can’t wait for them to see their teachers in their costumes!

Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping our school grow, adapt, and continue providing an exceptional experience for every child. Thank you for believing in our mission and making this event such a joyful success.

75th Anniversary Mass and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

September 10, 2025/in Community/by Hannah McFadden

St. Mary’s School commemorated its 75th anniversary with a day full of joy, reflection, and community spirit. The celebration began with Mass led by Bishop Mark Beckman, honoring the school’s legacy of faith and education. Students, faculty, alumni, and guests filled the chapel, united in gratitude for the generations that have shaped the school’s journey.

Following the Mass, attendees gathered in the Marian Courtyard, where members of the Rosary Rose group provided a sweet treat—an array of delicious cookies that added a warm touch to the festivities.

The highlight of the morning was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce. Students Erica White, Nathan Prothro, Radie Lowery, and Issrael Arellano proudly participated in the photo opportunity, representing the vibrant future of St. Mary’s.

Speeches from Mayor Gooch, Sister Catherine Marie, and Father Ray reflected on the school’s enduring mission and its role in the Oak Ridge community. Bishop Beckman concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt blessing, invoking continued grace and growth for the school in the years ahead.

One of the most anticipated moments came when the time capsule, put together 15 years ago, was opened. Inside were nostalgic treasures—trinkets, candy wrappers, and other mementos from students past. These items will be displayed in the school, offering a tangible connection to the memories and milestones of earlier generations.

Looking ahead, St. Mary’s plans to collect new items throughout the liturgical year to fill a fresh capsule, which will be sealed and opened in 2050. It’s a symbolic gesture that bridges the past, present, and future—reminding all who walk through its halls that St. Mary’s is more than a school; it’s a legacy.
